The URC1600 features a large backlit blue LCD touch-screen that can be fully customized to your requirements; up to 56 buttons can be allocated to the device in question. The commands relative to that particular unit are shown on the display and in addition to the LCD touch-screen there are also rubber keys for frequently used functions, such as Volume, Channel and Device Selection Etc.
The URC1600 is incredibly easy to set up and programme; It simply learns the commands from your existing remote controls, although, to make life even easier the unit comes pre-programmed with commands for many popular makes and models of equipment such as your SKY Digital Box, Etc. There is also an optional PC Link cable available, which connects to your computer via the USB Port; this allows you store the URC1600’s information in your PC, alter the layout, and download software updates – making the URC1600 future proof.
Not only, will the URC1600 mimic the functions of your existing handsets, but consolidating all your remotes into this single handset offers you other features as well; for example you can create “macro’s” with up to 60 functions; E.g. You can set a macro that switches on all your equipment, turns the TV channel to A/V, and brings up your TV guide all with the press of a single button or you can use the macro’s with the timer and calendar built in to the URC1600 – to switch on your VCR at a designated time and record a particular
programme from a particular channel; the applications are endless.
